September 18th. Mark the date in your calendar; as its the day chosen by the overlords at Overhaul Games to unleash Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and all of it’s associated awesomery across the general populace on PC, MAC and iOS formats. An Android release is marked down as ‘TBA’.
A countdown on the official site to the release date and price ($17.99 if you preorder, $19.99 if you don’t) started a few days ago to mark the occasion. iOS users will be able to buy the game for $9.99 and purchase the additional characters as in-app purchases. European specific pricing has yet to be unveiled.
In addition to the up-rezzed, portable loveliness that you can expect from one gaming’s most enduring RPG’s, there are extra characters and scenarios aplenty also.
First up on the new list, is a half-elf wild mage called Neera, who besides being a potential romantic interest, also provides up to four hours additional content with her own tailored quests and storylines.
Other new characters include Dorn Il-Khan, and Rasaad yn Bashir; while a new adventure called The Black Pits allows you to create a full party and battle through fifteen battles in a bid to escape the Underdark.
Additional new faces who will also be packing their own exclusive quest lines and narratives are Dorn Il-Khan; a half-orc Blackguard out to avenge those who have betrayed him and Rasaad yn Bashir, a monk looking to find solace somewhere in the strife torn realm of The Cloud Peaks.
It looks bloody fantastic and I can’t wait to finally own a good-to-honest multi-hundred hour long, hardcore RPG on my iPad.
Hopefully they’ll set some sort of precedent or something.
